William S. Bergner has served on our board of managers since July 2015. Mr. Bergner co-founded Berco Resources, LLC in 1978 and has been President since its inception. He has been associated with the Rocky Mountain oil and gas business since 1972.
Berco Resources is a privately held company engaged in the development of oil and gas reserves in the Northern Rocky Mountain Region. The company experienced tremendous asset growth through acquisitions and development from 1990 to 2003 and subsequently divested most of its properties from 2004 to 2006. Berco created value by concentrating on the purchase of high quality operated properties with large working interests, divesting marginal or non-strategic properties, improving operational efficiencies, re-negotiating service contracts, exploiting undeveloped reserves and marketing products aggressively. The company acquired oil and gas properties in more than 60 transactions for approximately $62 million over this 13 year period. It invested an additional $37 million in capital developing these assets before divestiture. Realized production and sale proceeds from these wells and leases totaled more than $325 million. Mr. Bergner continues to invest in oil and gas companies and non-operated drilling ventures. He is also an active investor in commercial real estate.
Mr. Bergner is a past President and former Director of Cherry Hills Country Club, and a past Director of the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States. Through his family foundation, he is active in supporting more than 20 charitable causes in the Denver area. Mr. Bergner holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and a Juris Doctorate of Law from the University of San Diego.
